Portable has always meant giving up the low end.
Battery, yes. Bass, not really.
A mobile rig is up in two minutes and fits in your trunk. Then the first track with a real 808 comes on and you hear exactly where your speaker stops. Open its spec sheet and find the lower cut-off frequency. That is where your bass ends, and that is where the night starts in which people nod politely instead of dancing.
The alternative so far: a passive sub, an amp, a rack, a cable drum, and the question of where the power is supposed to come from. Anyone who has run an extension cord across a stranger's garden at half past ten knows the rest.
Sound travels about 343 metres per second at 20 degrees, so a 36 Hz wave measures roughly 9.5 metres, over five times a person's height. Producing it means moving a lot of air. That is the whole reason a small speaker cannot do it, and why a dedicated subwoofer is not a matter of taste.
Both are compromises. One costs you bass, the other costs you the evening.

Moove Sub 208. Real bass, battery powered, anywhere.
The Moove Sub 208 is an active subwoofer with a built-in battery. Two 8 inch woofers, bi-amped Class-D with 130 watts RMS, frequency range from 36 to 120 Hz. You connect the audio output of your existing speaker to the XLR input of the sub. Your system stays exactly as it is and gets a foundation underneath it.
Two presets, Kick and Low, plus filters at 80 and 120 Hz depending on how low your tops already reach. A limiter and DSP work in the background and keep the level clean.

The bass comes out of the cabinet, not out of a processor.
The bass is produced purely physically, through the tuned interplay of cabinet, drivers and port design. We deliberately avoid psychoacoustic DSP processing. The result is a solid, natural low end that rests on acoustic construction rather than on signal manipulation, and that holds up in real use.
Maximum level stability comes from a purpose-built peak limiter algorithm. It keeps the bass controlled and level-stable even at full load, distortion is effectively contained without artificially cutting the low end.

All figures are manufacturer specifications measured under defined conditions. Runtime and level depend on programme material, volume, filter setting and temperature. We would rather state the condition than make a number look bigger than it is.
One cable. That is the whole setup.
Speaker, XLR, Moove Sub.
Connect
Audio out on your speaker into audio in on the sub. XLR. If your speaker has a jack output, that works too, you just need the matching cable.
Set
Pick a preset: Kick for more upper bass and punch, Low for deeper, longer bass notes. Set the filter to 80 or 120 Hz depending on how low your tops already play.
Play
Switch it on. The battery is inside, the power supply stays at home.
The XLR output passes the signal on to the next sub, so the setup grows without a second cable running back to your speaker.

Any number of subs can be chained over XLR.
A Moove Sub 208 is not an end point, it is a building block. Every additional sub brings its own battery. More bass therefore costs you no runtime, only space in the car.

The battery is a 99 Wh lithium-ion pack that sits inside the unit and is swapped by pulling it out. At full output the sub runs for roughly 4 hours, at 70 percent for more than 10.
Charging runs over USB-C at up to 70 watts, from empty to full in about 2 hours. The sub detects a connected power bank, it only has to supply enough power, from 65 watts it works. Which means the charger you already carry for your laptop charges the sub as well.
99 Wh is not a coincidence. Above 100 Wh a lithium battery becomes a special case on a plane, below it does not. More on that in the FAQ.

What the sub handles, and what we do not claim about it.
The Sub 208 is built for gardens, backyards, stage edges and car trunks. The MDF cabinet is painted and therefore protected against splash water.
What we do not have is an IP certification. So we do not claim one. An IP rating is a test result, not a phrase, and anyone who writes one down without the test either has not thought about it or is hoping nobody checks. If rain is forecast, you take the water repellent bag, available separately.
Bag and accessories are not included in the box.
What happens when a DJ and an electrical engineer team up.
A battery powered box.
Erik plays gigs. Chris is an electrical engineer and rents out equipment. One of them knows the problem from every other night, the other knows how a battery, a Class-D amplifier and a limiter work together. They started developing in 2024, and in 2026 it became a company.
Design and engineering happen in Germany, manufacturing in China. MDF cabinets, screwed components. Designed and engineered in Germany does not mean a badge of origin here, it means two names that stand behind the design. If you call, you talk to one of them.

Screwed together, not glued shut.
A broken part is a broken part, not a new device.
Every component in the Sub 208 is screwed in place and individually replaceable: woofers, electronics, battery, connector panel. The battery is a pack you pull out. No special tools, no glue seam, no cabinet you have to break open to reach a screw.
This is not an environmental message, it is arithmetic. Over five years, a device you can repair costs less than one you have to replace. Anyone who takes their equipment out every weekend knows how quickly that becomes relevant.

Marking and conformity
The unit carries the CE marking and the markings required under EU electrical and battery regulations (crossed-out wheelie bin). Safety and operating information is included and printed on the unit. The Sub 208 does not carry an IP protection rating.

Connection and operation
Which speakers can I use with the Sub 208?
Any speaker with an audio output, jack or XLR. You only need the matching cable. For maximum output the sub needs an input level of at least 8 dBu.
How is the subwoofer connected?
Audio out on your speaker into audio in on the sub. The XLR output on the sub passes the signal on to the next sub.
Which presets are there?
Two. Kick gives you more upper bass and makes bass hits more present. Low reaches deeper and lets bass notes ring longer. There are also filters at 80 and 120 Hz.
Can I link several subs?
Yes, any number of them over XLR. Each one brings its own battery.
Battery and charging
How long does the battery last?
Around 4 hours at full output, more than 10 hours at 70 percent. As with any battery device, it depends on how loud you play and on the material.
How long does charging take?
About 2 hours from 0 to 100 over USB-C at 70 watts.
Can I use a power bank?
Yes. The sub detects a connected power bank, it just has to deliver enough power, from 65 watts it works.
Can I charge two subs at once?
Each sub charges through its own USB-C port at up to 70 watts. For two units at the same time you need either two power sources or a charger that delivers enough on two ports simultaneously.
Can the battery be replaced?
Yes, by pulling it out. No tools needed.
Can I take the battery on a plane?
The battery pack holds 99 Wh and is deliberately below the 100 Wh threshold above which airlines require special approval. Lithium batteries up to 100 Wh are normally allowed in carry-on baggage, and spare batteries must travel in the cabin, not in checked luggage. Check with your airline before flying, the rules are not identical everywhere. The sub itself weighs 18.5 kg and travels as oversized baggage or freight.
Use and transport
Is the subwoofer weatherproof?
There is no certification. The cabinet is painted and therefore protected against splash water. We do not claim an IP rating because we do not have one.
Can I use it in the rain?
With the water repellent bag, available separately, yes. Without it we would not.
Will it fit in my car?
You know that better than we do. Count on 58 x 28 x 51 cm per unit and 18.5 kg you have to lift once.
Buying, delivery, service
What does the Moove Sub 208 cost?
999 euro after the Kickstarter, for one sub including one battery pack. The first 100 units go out through Kickstarter from 799 euro.
Why can I not order directly here?
Because Moove Audio is currently becoming a GmbH, and until that is done we do not take prepayments from customers. Payment and fulfilment run through Kickstarter. Worth knowing: Kickstarter is not a shop. You back a project there and receive a unit once it is built.
When will it ship?
After the campaign ends, planned for February to March. That is a plan, not a promise. If something moves, we say so as soon as we know, not after the date has passed.
What happens if delivery is delayed?
You get an update with the reason and a new date. With hardware, delays almost always come from the same place: parts that arrive later than promised. We will tell you what is missing and how long it takes.
What warranty do I get?
Statutory warranty under German law applies. Whether we add a manufacturer warranty on top is a decision we take before the campaign starts, and we will state it here.
Will I still get spare parts in five years?
We build these ourselves and keep the construction deliberately simple: screwed, replaceable, standard connectors where possible. A second battery or a replacement woofer is not a special case. Write to us if you need something.
I run a rental company. Are there terms for multiple units?
Write to us directly. We would rather talk about quantities in person than through a form.
What happens to my email address on the waitlist?
